About Me

Hello, I am Brittney Smith and I am a Senior at Hartford High School. I’m also in the Health Sciences program here at Hartford Area Career and Technology Center.

After I graduate High School I plan to go to Plymouth State University and I plan to study and major in Public Health and Education. My goal for when I have completed College is to be a Child Life Specialist.

I took the LNA course and did not pass the State exam and right that day I realized it was nothing I was interested in anyway. Getting my LNA would have been a  good step towards my career goal. Going to HACTC really does set you up for your future and prepares you for the Career you are interested in. Skills we learn in Health Sciences consist of CPR and Vital signs,Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),proper hand washing and learning how to put a cast on the Proper way. In Health Sciences we go out on Job shadows and I went to 3 different hospitals and did not find it very interesting, until I heard a Child Life Specialist talking about what her job is. Thats when it came to my mind to be a Child Life Specialist because it sounded really cool. I am now at The Upper Valley Haven and love it their because they really focus on Public Health and that is what I'm interested in.
